Getting to George Town (Penang)

  • Penang is made up of Mainland Penang + Penang Island. George Town, where all the festivities will be held is located on Penang Island, which also has Penang International Airport (PEN).

From overseas:

​

  • Fly direct to Penang Int Airport via Kuala Lumpur and Singapore (major hubs). You also have the option to fly via Hong Kong, Dubai, and more.

From within Malaysia:

​

  • Car/Bus (KL → George Town): 4–5 hrs (longer with traffic).

  • Train + Ferry: ETS high-speed train KL → Butterworth (mainland), then a short ferry or taxi/bus across to George Town.


When to arrive? If coming from overseas, arrive at least 1 day early to settle in and avoid missing any celebrations.

Getting around:

​

  • Walking - George Town is a great place to walk around, with many food options, heritage architecture and more - all venues are about 10-15min walk to one another.

  • Grab (or taxis) - download the app to your phone prior to arriving

  • Beca (trishaw) - for a scenic ride you can take a local trishaw around town!
